Specific Breeds

Although CAMP CANINE welcomes all friendly pets to utilize our boarding and grooming services, we have chosen to be breed specific with our cageless group play.

Our breed policy is not based on a dislike for any breed, but more of a decision made based upon research, experience, and a deep respect for all breeds of dogs. Currently, there is a negative stigma attached to some types of dogs stimulated by the media. Because of this, a large majority of our clients are uncomfortable allowing their pets to play with such breeds.

CAMP CANINE understands that this is not the fault of the breed, and that the problem lies mostly with some irresponsible owners, breeders and training practices. We do not wish to further tarnish the reputation of these pets in the event of any issues that could possibly occur during a pet’s stay. Because every negative incident reflects not only a single dog, but the breed as a whole, many organizations and individuals considered to be experts in the preservation of such breeds, are also recommending that owners avoid dog parks and doggie daycares.

As a business decision, we have decided to implement the recommendations of these professionals in the hope that one day, pet owners do not have to worry about Breed Specific Legislation.

All campers that are a breed of dog listed below will not be allowed to socialize in our cageless daycare; however, they will receive 3 to 4 one-on-one playtimes daily with camp counselors and lots of human attention to make sure their stay with us is as comfortable as possible:
  • • Pitbulls
  • • American Pitbull Terriers
  • • American Staffordshire Terriers
  • • Staffordshire Bull Terriers
  • • American Bullies
  • • Presa Canarios
  • • Cane Corsos
  • • DogoArgentinos
  • • Fila Braseleiros
  • • Any Mixed Breed that has the appearance or characteristics of such breeds.
